In this chapter, we learn that the narrator has finished his exams and is now free to go home. He brings home some beads and uses them to separate red and white strands. He explains that he is using a "sniper trick" , in which you appear to be failing at first, but then you do well in the future. He compares this trick to the way you shake a jar of popcorn and it turns into "popcorn" .
