About This Chapter
In the meantime, Arata has made it through the first round of the Karuta tournament. She's glad to see that she's done well, but she wishes she'd been quieter during the whole thing. She tells Arata to go buy some late-night snacks, since the tournament is so long. Arata says he's sorry for being so loud during the tournament, but he wishes he'd stayed quieter because it's so hard to keep up with the matches. He's also worried that if he wins, he'll be forced to join the club, since he won't be able to play in the tournament. He says he doesn't want to force anyone to join, since that would be like forcing them to join a club that they don't belong to. He also says that he can't wait to watch the tournament from the window, since it'll give him a chance to watch it from outside. The other two players have gotten the same card, and Arata is worried that they're going to pass it on to their opponent. She says she'll teach them how to pass cards to their opponents, so they can attack the cards that Arata's opponent has already passed on them. She also says she needs to tell Arata where she got the card from, since Arata calls him "ta," which means "friend." Arata wants to talk to Arata about some other thing, but Arata won1t talk about it. He wants to go home.
