In this chapter, Edgar tries to convince himself that he's not dead. He's still alive, he says, and that's all that matters to him. He doesn't care what people think of him, he just wants to be happy. He tells Edgar that his friends are safe, and he hopes that they enjoy their time together. He says that he told himself he was doing this to save himself, but that once he achieves his goal, he'll be glad he can't be killed.
