About This Chapter
When the chapter opens, the narrator is shocked to find that he is the son of a "whore" . He is still in the "heian period" , and he wonders if he has managed to "lose" his father and his wife. He asks if they have been able to find him, and if they will be able to kill him if they do not find him. He tells the narrator that he has been cornered, and that they have found the "little old granny" who saved him. The little old granny tells him that the "fujiwaras" are the "swine of the weak" and that he should come and eat at her house. The narrator asks if she would like to come eat some food, and she says yes, but that she has nowhere else to go. She tells him to go and get the herbs for his leg, and then she creaks the door open.
