This chapter's epigraph comes from a conversation between Lear and Nim. Lear is furious that Nim has been born prematurely and wishes that he had never been born. Nim, on the other hand, is furious because Lear has insulted him in front of the entire world. Lear tells Nim to give him what he wants and to make him wish that he were never born. He then apologizes to Lear and leaves.
