In this chapter, we learn that the scanning facility on the planet lendard has collapsed, and that the crow has killed 99 of the humans in it. We learn that this is because the crow is "getting out of control" . We also learn that Ziggy's army is stronger than the combined fleet of the two planets. The crow's attack team is made up of fighter pilots and the core of the subjugation forces. They'll be able to break through the defenses of both planets, and they'll need to send a signal to the other planets that they're there. The signal will come from one of the planets they've hit by the chronophagous, which is a type of machine that attacks planets in the same way that humans attack other planets. This means that they can attack both planets at once.
