About This Chapter
This chapter opens with a description of the lush green planet Vegetation. Vegetation is described as "a verdant planet" with "tons of nature" and a "harmony between nature and machinery" . The narrator notes that he has never seen anything like this before. He wonders if the humans of the future will be able to go about their daily business without the net, as his home planet had. He also notes that the town has been detected ahead of time, and that people are locked in cages. He tells us that his human has lost her appetite and that he bathes her every day and feeds her food from the "old world." He says that humans are more difficult to "repair" than machines, as they are "meant to be free." The narrator asks if he can give him one of his own, but the narrator says that he can't, as all of the return flights to Earth have been canceled. He goes to town to get more food, and he is surprised to find that there is no one there to greet him. He asks what happened, and the narrator tells him that a week ago, someone "hacked everything" on the planet, including the TVs, the internet, and even the human population. He adds that after that, "they killed or captured everything completely taken over." He asks if it's possible to "hack" systems on a planet like this, since there are "humans" there. He says, "there you are, humans." He concludes by saying, "crank how rudely" he has to take down the "great demon king."
