In this short scene, the audience is introduced to the protagonist's father and brother. The father tells the protagonist that he and his brother have been swallowed up by the wind. The protagonist is amazed at how much the wind has changed since he first met his father. He says that he has never experienced anything like this. He compares it to being "jowled" inside a giant "iceberg" . He asks his brother if he really thinks that this is what he wanted from his father, that he wanted him to show him that what he has been searching for "for all these years" is just a "grave yard" for the wind, and that he hates that he was given a "heart that could fly" but that he is stuck in a "heavy body" that can't do anything. He tells his brother that the first time he put on air trecks, he could barely ride them. He could barely pull them off, and he says that when he first wore them, he was "one with the breeze" , but now he feels the wind "sprouting wings" all over his body.
