About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a flashback to a time when a blind man lived by the seashore and was carried away by a cool young woman. The young woman was a kind of hero to the blind man. The woman's name was "Amy Amy Racecar," and the building where the young woman lived was in the area where the old man lived. The three members of a special crime team sent to apprehend the woman tried to stop the racecar, but they were unable to do so. Amy calls the woman a "kind of folk hero" and says that if he does not kill her, they will throw him in a hole "so dark" that his cleavage will look like "the sun room 4th of marythe phoenician." Amy thanks the woman for saving his life, but he says that he will not change his mind about killing her. He tells her that he is cold-turkey on violence, but that it puts him at a disadvantage. He says that his mother will not like him, but she will not be able to stop him from killing the woman. He adds that he has to get her some arms and "wstripped of their killer instincts" before he can kill her. The narrator says that this is a "great place to party" when he is "laying low also" , and he knows that "scum and villainy" smell awful. He concludes by saying that the woman is the mother of his son, and that he would actually like to marry her if she did not want him to kill her son
