About This Chapter
"The wicked image" is the title of the next issue of the underground magazine. It's a satire on the underground culture of the late nineteenth century. In this issue, it's about a guy named Cassandra, who's trying to find out what's going on in the underground. She's also trying to figure out what the heck's up with all the weird stuff going on at the festival. Cassandra tells us that she's found out that a bunch of people tried to kill Lucifer, including a professor named Willkes, who was in attendance at the conference. The professor, named Ackford, told Willkes that the powers of the gods could be shared, and that he'd get rid of the professor if he caused any trouble. The whole thing is disturbing, Cassandra says, and she hopes Cassandra isn't one of the people they've found out about. She tells Cassandra that she wouldn't want this on anyone, but Cassandra can't believe that Cassandra would want to go to hell. She says that the festival is exactly what Cassandra wanted, and he's not going to let her and Lucifer continue to live. He's just going to fuck him. He doesn't care what happens to him, he just wants to be with Cassandra.
