In this chapter, we learn that the sea god's psychic pillars are intended to absorb the psychic power of the god of destruction. The sea god explains that he knows that the god will try to destroy him, but he doesn't want to go through with it because he wants to stay out of the way of the "gods of war" . In other words, if the war were to occur, he would not want to be a part of it. But if it were to happen, he'd have to give up his position as a god and travel around the world with the kids.
