This chapter opens with a soliloquy in which the young protagonist declares that he has made up his mind to remain with Lu Xueqi. He says that they have already sworn an oath to remain together forever, and that he will always be the "worrisome junior" of the party. He is amazed at Lu's ability to stand still after taking his first blow. He also notices that his sword seems to be more excited than usual today, and he wonders if it is because of her magical weapon. He concludes that the victory will come his way in the end, but he cannot let it continue like this.
