In this short scene, the disguised Lingnan tries to convince the disguised Milady that he is the rightful heir to the throne. Milady, however, is not fooled. She tells him that she has been away from the house for a very long time, and that she needs to return to let everyone know that she is safe and well. She asks Milady to give her a ride in his carriage, and Milady tells her that she will not trouble the king's imperial highness. She also tells Milady about a doctor who cured the prince, and she wonders why the prince is so close to Milady's granddaughter. She says that she thinks it is because Milady knows about the prince's respect for her, and pushes away when Milady asks her to leave a message for her. She warns Milady not to try to get too close to her, because if he does, blood will be spilled, and he will have to return three steps back.
