About This Chapter
When the captain tells elias that they must cross the river to get rid of the plague, she tells him to find a tree or a plank to build a pole. She tells him that they will use a powerful spell to spread the plague across the river and then into the regions that the plague services. She explains that she was one of the people who tried to kill Melchior, and she knows that today, people hunt sorcerers who worship them. She says that she hopes that they can understand how the spell works and destroy it. The captain tells her to go and attack, but she says that they are too late, and the plague has already been destroyed. She warns the captain that if they leave, she will risk them giving her away. He tells her that he will use the blade to destroy the plague. He says that the rain of ash used the carcass of the red plague to pollute the water, and that the fire in the sky "ignited a raging disease" in anyone who drank it. He promises that the blade will allow him to witness his friend's suffering.
