This chapter opens with a discussion of the family in the demon realm. It is obvious that the group is planning to become shrewd and cunning. The group's leader, "earth eye," tells the others that he is already dead and that they must obey him. He tells them that he has put a bet on them that they will not go home until they are drunk. He also tells the group that the opponent is a girl and that he will not lose to her. The other group members argue with each other about whether they should run or not. They argue about whether or not they should stay in the mountains, and finally decide that they should go home. They discuss the fact that they have been seen by the immortals for a day, and that one day they might not recognize anyone. They wonder if they will be able to find their way back to the mountain. They decide to drag the man out of the house if he does not show up.
