In this chapter, we are introduced to the "sunshine realm culture" of Weibo, the official language of the Republic of China. Weibo is a social media platform that was created by the government in response to the widespread anti-socialist sentiment that pervaded China in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It was created to serve as a medium through which the people of China could communicate with one another and with the outside world. It is also a tool for the government to gain control over the people and to further its goals through the promotion of political and economic theory and trade
