About This Chapter
The next morning, Frankenstein wakes up in a daze. He feels like someone is spying on him, and he decides to go home to make up for his lost sleep. He asks what the heck is going on. He remembers saying, "Don't move," and the air around him is thick with an "animus air" . He doesn't know who this guy is, but his instincts are telling him not to fight him. He tells himself, "I may well spare you life" , and then he goes on to explain that he can kill people who have "crossed the line" on sight under the laws of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. If you're a troublemaker and you want to fight someone who's crossed the line on sight, you can do so under the Bureau's supervision team. He also tells Frankenstein that he's affiliated with a "supervisory team" and that it's very audacious for him to want to kill someone like him. Frankenstein tells himself that he gave up everything in his past when he left that position, and that he needs all of his "bastards" to disappear. He says that he has never seen anyone who can control animus air in the dead like he can. He compares himself to the "death gods" who can "control the animus of the dead" and says that this monster is stronger than the "legends" suggest. He's not strong enough to fight this monster, he says, even if he were as strong as he used to be. If he wants to fight, he should go ahead and do it. He
