The chapter opens with a flashback to the previous chapter, in which we learn that we're back in the office of Viola, who's in love with Viola's boss, Tousle. Viola has always dreamed of being a "girl friend" to her boss, and she's bummed out that she'll never be able to fulfill her dream. She's also bummed that she can't seem to find anyone to be a boyfriend for her, and that's just because she doesn't have a boyfriend right now. The narrator tells us that this is the first time we've heard her say this, and it's clear that Viola is having a tough time getting over her crush.
