About This Chapter
This chapter begins with a flashback to a conversation between the Governess and Maulvi. The Governess tells Maulvi that the rebel angels have overrun the train and killed all the men on board. Maulvi tells her that the Lord has not tried to stop him, and that he has been preparing for his return for a month. He says that the only time he has felt pain is when he was preparing for the return of the Lord. He explains that humans curse the Lord when they feel pain, but they do not curse the God who stopped them from pain. The Lord leads them to the Sabbath, which Maulvi interprets as a sign of good and evil.
