About This Chapter
Mr. Troy comes to see Dr. Bledsoe, and the two of them discuss the possibility of a blood transfusion. Mr. Bardolph, the doctor, explains that the blood transfusion is a way for humans to acquire their own blood supply without killing anyone. Dr. Bardley explains that it is not uncommon for people to give their blood to others in exchange for a certain amount of money. Drs Bled and Dr. Barlow, the two physicians, discuss how they can use the blood supply to treat patients who have been infected with syphilis. They decide that the best way to treat the patients is to give them a specific amount of the donor's own blood, which they then use to cure the patients.
