At the beginning of the chapter, we are introduced to a young man named Tachihide, who is in love with a young woman named Yuuta. He asks her to marry him, but she refuses, saying that she is too busy with her own business. He tells her that he is not interested in her, and she tells him that she does not think he is worthy of her love. He then asks her if she would like to go to a nearby shrine with him. She says that she would, but that she has no time for it. He says that he would rather go to the shrine with her than to Yuuta, because Yuuta has not spoken to him in a long time, and he does not want her to think that he has lost interest in her. The young man then tells Yuuta that the next day, hiro did not come to visit him, and asked for help from the gods. The next day he did not return, either, and Yuuta asked the gods for help, but the gods did not help. The girl tells the young man that she feels sorry for him and his family, and that she wishes that the gods would help them. The boy tells the girl that he feels sorry, too, for them.
