About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the two men who have been working on the music for the show are, in fact, a pair of "relics" from the past. They're just "a pair of relics" , and they're grateful to be back in the city, but they don't really know each other very well. The only thing they do know is that they work on "blesome sounds" . They want to use this material to make a "live radio drama," which they've been trying to do for the past few years, but it's not going to happen because they can't produce enough sound to make it sound like a real live show. So, they decide to use the sounds they make with the "mold old tools" they brought with them from the "legendary ary duo" to "show the younger staff" the "old tools" that they brought to the club. This is the first time that they have done a live show in 40 years, and the narrator tells us that this is because he's tired of her "love and hatred" for the guy who betrayed her. He tells her that she's a "silver tongued girl" who's always been "steered around" at "full throttle" by her love and hatred. He says that he wants her to die so that she can be reborn as a "new woman," and that he'd like to see her "die and be reborn" with him. The narrator says that if they bury her body now, she'll look like a "grave-digger" when it dries up. He's just trying to "make con sound" of two people. He doesn't care if they take longer than he did, as long as he can make them sound like they did when they were alive.
