About This Chapter
The boys discuss what they're looking for. They've got to figure out if the crime was committed by human beings, or if it was a supernatural event. The boys decide to split up and look for evidence. The first thing they'll do is ask around for anything that might be connected to the case. They don't have anything useful to report today, so they can't do anything about it tomorrow. They also want to know if they've seen Joe, who went missing the day before. He's "brown like this" . They haven't found him, but they did find the same thing at the tunnel entrance. Joe's missing, but he's already gone, so there's nothing they can do about it now. They ask about the cage ritual at the school, and the boys explain that it's an offering ceremony for a certain religious sect. If the school is associated with that religious sect, then they'd have to perform the cage ceremony in order to "offer mikuni" as a sacrifice. Joe asks if they can flush out anyone who's affiliated with the sect, and they agree to do so.
