About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he's just trying to be nice to the emperor, but he doesn't seem to like the way she's acting. He's also worried that the emperor is going to kill him. He tells the group that they're going to have to spend the night at the emperor's house since they haven't found any clues about what's going on. He also tells them that the general's daughter is the captain of one of the divisions. The narrator is worried that this means the emperor isn't going to be able to help them find the truth about what happened to the lieutenant. He says that the lieutenant ate the biscuits that the group made for him, and that he ate it too. He wants to know why the group didn't wait until midnight to kill the lieutenant, but the narrator says they'll be caught. He asks why the bandages on the lieutenant's body are there, and the narrator explains that he wants to examine the body
