About This Chapter
This chapter's epigraph comes from a famous nursery rhyme: "Teddy bears are fighters." It's a reference to the bear's ability to fight with his back to the wall, and to the fact that he's got two fists tied behind his back. He's so angry that he threatens to beat the "butt" of the buggy with one of his fists if it doesn't come to his rescue. He also says that the insects in the cove are so weak that they'll beat him to sleep if they're not put to good use. The two of them decide that the cove is a "cakewalk," and that the only reason they need to help is because they've seen the escape of xenakis, who's escaped from the hive with the help of the bear
