About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he gained some weight, so he's on a diet. He asks why she looks so small, and she tells him that she's trying to slim down a bit. She says that her grandma always told her that health makes women beautiful, so maybe she should eat more. She shows us the edamame plants that she and her sister have been growing at home, and the narrator wonders if she is really a "high school girl," or if she has a big sister. The narrator says that the edamame look like "serious business" , and that they're "even cuter than I thought ! . . wow ! I'm going to give you some of the edamame when they come in, and then I'll get you some bell and corn too, too, if you want to have some too." The narrator asks if they can pick the radishes that she planted in her garden, and he says yes, and they can eat them. He says that if they eat the radishes, they'll "slim down" . He's not sure if this is true, but he thinks it's good for the skin.
