About This Chapter
"St. crackle crackle f 11" is the title of the chapter, and it's a reference to the year that has passed since the disappearance of Ruchika. The narrator tells us that he hasn't been able to find her, and that he's instructed the y'kai and the akashi to look for her in the country. He's also instructed them to notify him if they see any signs of her, but he doesn't know how to get the information to him in a timely fashion. He asks the narrator to tell him what's bothering him, and the narrator tells him to chill out. He also tells the narrator that the apartment is cursed, and he wonders if it was just a coin coin cidence. He then tells the story of the three suicides in the apartment. The first tenant killed herself because she was having too much to drink, and another tenant killed himself because he was the boyfriend of the first tenant's cousin. The second tenant also killed herself, but she didn't have a clear reason for killing herself, so she killed herself in the same apartment as her boyfriend, who was also the ex-boyfriend of the second tenant. He was the one who broke the woman's heart, and so he was probably the one to commit suicide. He says that if he and his cousin could be normal people, they would be able to get along, but the girl is so evil that he can't. He wonders why the narrator keeps taking his side over the girl's, and wonders if they're just trying to catch the girl and eat her. He adds that the girl never told them that she was going to come to the apartment to think about her next plan, but that she's not going to make the same mistake twice. She'll give the narrator a perfectly logical answer, and she'll tell him that there's never been any curses, no ghosts, nothing unusual has ever possessed the apartment, and no one has ever killed themselves there. He thinks that the third victim's boyfriend would have killed himself if he hadn't rented the apartment three months earlier, and then killed himself himself if it weren't for the fact that he had caused the death of his ex-girlfriend. He concludes that the only explanation for the third suicide is that he pushed his girlfriend to her death, and killed himself, then those who were left behind would be pain knowing what he'd done. He speculates that if the only
