About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that the only way he can get rid of Asai is to steal her cell phone. He tells us to "crank ager" , which means to spy on her, and to "start king time" . The narrator says that he'll let him have his wish granted if he gives him a secret ring with a password. The secret ring is acom, and the password is "midori's" password. He says he wants to protect Asai because she's "so kind" and "like an angel," but she'll never be able to change her mind about him. The baseball club room where the king will be staying is not a good place to hide a wish, he says, because no one will show up to "draw the king out." He wants to meet him, but he doesn't want to tell the king what's going on. He's worried about what the news will say if he tells the king about his wish. The teacher is calling the hospital, and he's heard that the king is in his class. He wonders if the teacher will tell the news about the king's visit to the hospital. He also worries about what will happen if the king finds out about the secret ring. He asks the teacher if he can write the names of his classmates on the pictures of the king, so that he can remember them. He thinks that the pictures are pretty obvious that he likes a girl. He worries that if he stole the pictures, he could get the girl to like the king. He knows that the girl would never judge people based on their looks, so he decides to trust his classmates. The king is going to be in the hospital during this time, so the narrator wants to be sure that he won't be found out.
