About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he and his son are on their way to Kaminoyama, a town on the border between Japan and the Republic of Korea. They're going to visit a local priest, but they haven't received any official notice of their visit, so they don't know if he's really there. The narrator says that the priest is trying to hide his identity so he won't be pursued by the authorities. He says that he saw the priest on the road and heard a girl screaming. The priest must have said he was the lord of Aizu, but the narrator says it's probably just a lie, because the priest looks exactly like the fake man they saw. So the narrator tells his son to look at the priest, and he says that's the real man, and the priest can't pass through the territory of Aizun because he is "insulting priests" .
