This chapter opens with a soliloquy by the queen, in which she says that she is confident that she has made the right decision. She says that if the king did anything to her, she would fight him, even if they both ended up injured. The queen tells the king that the pirates have brought a large number of people to the island, and that they should not allow them to enter the fortress. The king tells the queen that he has no idea how to prepare for battle, but that he will do as he is told. He says that the enemy has been defeated and that he would never defeat the king with the help of the quy. He asks the queen to stay and be his wife, but the queen says she has been engaged to another man.
